SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

About 4 Evergreen: 4 Evergreen Resources is the flagship company for the Saulteau First Nations for natural resource development opportunities. We are a civil construction company, with expansion opportunities in orphaned oil and gas well reclamation, located near Chetwynd, BC.

Job Summary: Recent growth has created the need for a Senior Accountant to join our accounting team and take over the major reporting and analytical duties for our company. The Senior Accountant will work with our Financial Controller to ensure we have accurate and timely corporate financial statements, project statements and related reports. In addition, the Senior Accountant will support the needs of the payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and audit functions as required. We need an experienced professional with strong analytical skills and the attention to detail necessary to ensure accurate reporting and analysis for all areas of our business.

Reporting Relationships:
Reports to: Financial Controller
Direct Reports: None

RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting
• Prepares accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with our established schedule and with input from the accounting team
• Conducts monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
• Perform monthly bank reconciliation
• Analyzes financial statements for discrepancies and other issues that should be brought to the Controller’s attention
• Supports payroll function, coordinating with HR to ensure compliance with labour standards and company policies
• Maintaining and reconciling fixed assets schedules
• Coordinates audit function with guidance from the Controller
• Cover accounting positions during the staff absence/holidays.

Budgeting, Analysis & Reporting
• Supports budgeting, reporting, and operational performance tracking for the company and individual projects
• Analyzes financial data and creates financial models for decision support
• Reports on company and project financial performance for regular leadership reviews
• Analyzes past results, performs variance analysis, identifies trends, and identifies opportunities for improvements
• Works closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting

Monitoring & Controls
• Supports cost analysis and efficiency by ensuring policies and procedures are followed
• Provides analysis of trends and forecasts and identifies opportunities for improvement
• Enables performance monitoring by producing standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and dashboards

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
• CPA certification will be preferred, however equivalent experience will be considered.

Skills and Experience
• 3 to 5 years experience at an intermediate level in an accounting or finance department
• Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and cash flow reporting
• Sound financial modeling experience
• Experience in full cycle accounting and the month-end/year-end close process
• Experience with project accounting will be in asset
• Hands-on experience with Sage 50
• Advanced knowledge of Excel

• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
